The Missed Trip

A tale of a long-awaited trip to Udaipur and shooting several rolls of film.

The story starts in 2019, I book my tickets in January to go to Udaipur in July for my birthday as a solo trip.

Then what transpires in the coming months/years; we are all aware. Nevertheless, not to give up on my dream, I once again book tickets to go in January of 2024.

My love for old lanes and crumbling forts is overshadowed by my love of photography. I walked at least 10 kilometres every day, exploring the lanes, the castles and the old ruins that Udaipur and the surroundings had to offer.

I don't think I have shot as much in my life as I did on this trip, the only regret?

I should've tested the lens I got from Ebay before I set out on this trip. I wasted 100s of dollar worth of film because the lens was an absolute goner. I also brought a cheap Minolta Autocord TLR, it looks so clean, you wouldn’t believe it was not manufactured last week. Another win.

Thankfully I had enough of craziness or enthusiasm, depending on your perspective to shoot from my medium format and also B&W even though the city had so many colours to offer.

I shot everything from Ektachorme, to Tri-X, to Velvia, to HP5. You name it.  Icing on the cake? I nailed the exposure almost every time with slide film and got probably the best results I have ever from slide, which now are all in slide mounts.

Not to bore you with the endless rant of my adventure, here are some pictures I managed to salvage.

ENJOY!
